Literacy-based music program where students build their own percussion instruments, form ensembles and create original raps.
Rhythm, Rhyme & Rap offers students the alternative three R's, designed to empower them by nurturing their creativity, encouraging self-expression and building self-esteem. Students learn about the origins of rhythm, play with language to create their own lyrics and ultimately develop and perform a musical narrative/rap on a subject of their choice

The program is designed to fit student needs and can be readily tailored to a classroom’s existing curriculum. Each residency will culminate in a performance for family members and the school community at large. In addition to learning performance technique and teamwork skills through the music making process, RRR will help develop the students’ self-confidence as they prepare for the final performance.
"Our staff members were absolutely thrilled! THey loved seeing their students absorbed and learning and loved learning and participating themselves!" Penny C. Ryan, Principal, PS 811Q Marathon School, March 12, 2010
