Karen DiYanni has been a member of the New York Pops since 1999. A graduate of the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division and the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Karen earned both a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma from the Yale University School of Music. She has participated in a number of music festivals, including Tanglewood, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, the Spoleto Festival (Italy), and Recontres Musicale d'Evian, under the conductor Mstislov Rostropovich.
Ms. DiYanni participated in chamber music programs with the Tokyo, Vermeer, Cleveland, Juilliard, and Shanghai quartets. She has performed with a wide variety of ensembles, including the the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the New Jersey Symphony, and the New York Chamber Symphony. Ms. DiYanni began working with The New York Pops Music Mentorship Program since 2012 and is a PopsEd Teaching Artist. Working with students in large and small groups, she shares with them her experience of music as a discipline of beauty, a provocation to thinking, and an experience of transcendence.
